Another great video! This technique took me a little while to get the hang of, because I mostly played acoustic for years. But this is very common in modern worship music. I think the first time I heard this kind of playing (mostly anchored chords up the neck) was U2's "In The Name Of Love." Very iconic sound.
I tend to use A-shapes most of the time- I'll use an A2 shape as the I chord, D2 as the IV, E shape as V, and either A2 again or something similar for the vi. Doesn't work for every song, but I can also use the D2 shape as I, and use the A2/Am shape (moving) as 4-5-6.
