A 12,000 yearold dog! An ancient crocodile found in Antarctica! A fully preserved female mammoth found in Siberia and a crazy doctor that might be trying to clone them all! Here are the most incredible things found frozen in ice!
Tumat puppies.
In 2011, in the Village of Tumat, North Russia, on a riverbank, an ancient deposit of bones was found buried in the permafrost, these bones were the remains of a young dog that was discovered to be 12,500 years old! In 2015, just 6ft away, a second dog was found but this one was almost perfectly preserved, between 7080%, including the brain. Researchers believe that both dogs were kept as pets or working dogs and were of the same litter. Scientists are searching both dogs for remains of ancient parasites and their intestines for ancient bacteria.
Doctor Hwang Woosuk, a South Korean Veterinarian who conducts controversial cloning experiments has been brought onto the project and has taken samples of the animal’s skin, muscles, and ear cartilage and has said that he is very excited to be involved. Hwang thinks that the mummified puppy might provide the key to bringing the species back from extinction.
Viking Sword
Three Norwegian reindeer hunters were very surprised to find an extremely well preserved Viking Sword at the top of a 5300ft mountain in Southern Norway.
What surprised them is that Vikings are not known for their mountaineering skills and that a Viking sword could remain so well preserved after 1200 years!
After dating the sword, archaeologists returned to the site but found no other artifacts, this led them to believe that the sword belonged to a Viking swordsman from between 850950 AD and that he possibly lost it on the mountain during a blizzard, then, a combination of snow, very cold temperatures and reduced amount of oxygen at the high altitude aided its remarkable preservation.
Complete Mammoth
In 2013, scientists from the Siberian Northeastern Federal University were told about so tusks that were seen sticking out of the permafrost on Maly Lyakhovsky Island in Northern Siberia. When the scientist visited the site, what they found was incredibly interesting. They found a fullgrown Mammoth almost completely intact, Three legs and the majority of its head, trunk, and body were recovered and the corpse was so well preserved that they even managed to recover a vial of the mammoth’s blood.
After studying the remains of the Mammoth it was discovered that she was a female around 50 years old and had died from an attack from wolves and other predators after getting stuck in a peat bog approximately 40,000 years ago.
Once again, due to the exceptional preservation of the specimen, Doctor Hwang AKA Doctor Clone, was also called in to be part of this project and to attempt to find enough intact DNA to recreate the Mammoth’s Genome.
Frozen Crocodile
During an expedition to Antarctica in the summer of 20102011 (the Antarctic summer is from October to February) the team reached a site called Graphite peak, here they discovered a fossil specimen under the snow that consisted of a Skull, limbs, and some portions of backbone, although the specimen was not complete, it was enough to know that they had discovered a new species dating back 250 million years. The Artarctanax was a type of Archosaur, a distant ancestor of the Crocodile, and it was a carnivore. The thing that the scientists found surprising wasn’t the discovery that was made, but, where the discovery was made.
Loch Ness Monster Ancestor.
Paleontologists working in the icy depths of Antarctica have recently uncovered the fossilized remains of the largest Elasmosaurid known to man. The creature is 40ft long, would have weighed about 15 tonnes, and looks suspiciously like the popular renditions of the Loch Ness Monster. Unlike other Elasmosaurids, this reptile was so big that scientists believe it didn’t prey on individual animals but ate lots of smaller ones, similar to the way whales do today.
The creature is believed to be 70 million years old and was actually discovered in 1989 but due to the inhospitable area and extreme climate, excavation has been a long and grueling process which was completed in 2017.
9000 Year Old Bison.
In 2011, some members of the Yukagir tribe in northern Siberia discovered the remains of a Steppe Bison, an extinct ancestor of the modernday bison. The finding of a Steppe bison carcass itself is not unusual but this one was the most well preserved one ever found. Carbon dating told them it was over 9000 years old and judging by the lack of fat around its abdomen researchers think it died of starvation.

8 Crazy Experiments at -55°C, -67°F (The coldest city in the World: Yakutsk)

Frozen eggs and noodles, wet clothes, bowling with water balloons… I visited the coldest city on the planet; Yakutsk. Here are 8 amazing ice experiments and ice tricks from Yakutsk / Yakutia, temperature is at 55°C. Extreme cold weather experiments were amazing. Wet clothes hardened very quickly, noodles cary the fork in the air and hot water instantly turns into ice crystals. We also played bowling with water balloons or made a sled out of a wet towel, we then ski on it. In Oymyakon the coldest temperature record is 71°C.

Yakutsk is in Yakutia which is in Siberia of Russia (Sakha Republic). The lowest air temperature ever recorded here is 96.16 degrees Fahrenheit (71.2 degrees Celsius).
Coldest village is Oymyakon, and it is in Yakutia too.
Yakutsk is even colder than Ontario, Minnesota or Alaska. Winter here is very cold and harsh.
Extreme cold weather, blizzards and snow storms are a everyday thing in winter. Winter camping is not recommended to any Youtuber.
Flight from United States to Yakutsk / Russia took about 30 hours and one way ticket costs around 1000 American Dollars. But hotel accommodations are relatively cheap and affordable in Siberia.

Extraction of Mammoth tusks in Siberia

Extraction of Mammoth tusks in Siberia
About 10 thousand years ago, northern Siberia was inhabited by shaggy giants, called mammoths. Now extinct genus of mammals affected by the rise in temperature at the end of the last Ice Age and Ancient hunters killed woolly mammoths for their meat, which resulted in their habitat was flooded and reduced. Animals caught in limbo on an isolated island, where there was not the slightest chance to return to the mainland. Some populations, sharpened on these land areas to the east and north of Siberia, delayed and became extinct about 3,700 years ago.
The remains of mammoths, in particular their tusks to date status are the most common fossils in the Siberian lands. Scientists estimate that the reserves of this ancient material in Russia reach hundreds of thousands of tons, and annual production is several tens (2060) tons. Given the volume of produced relics, one can only imagine what a big number of mammoths lived on these lands in those days. Known tusks, champions curled in spirals on 44.5 meters, their weight was equal to 100110 kg and diameter 1819 cm.
The indigenous peoples of the northern areas, are often found washed up before spring waters tusks, believed that the giant animals move underground, putting over its surface only their huge \”fangs\”. They called their Eggor, ie earthen deer. According to another legend, the mammoths lived in the early times of creation. Because of its enormous weight they constantly fail to his chest in the ground. In creating mammoths paths formed rivers, streams, which eventually led to the complete flooding (there is a legend that during the biblical flood animals would be saved on Noah’s ark, but could not fit there). For some time the animals floated over the vast waters.
Throughout the European part of Russia and Siberia and up to the middle of the XX century actively flourishing folk art of carving on bone. Local carvers sired combs, boxes, miniature sculptures exclusively from the tusks of mammoths. This material is very beautiful, and durable plastic, though is somewhat complicated to handle. Its hardness is equivalent to such materials like pearls, amber and coral. Mammoth bones easily handled cutter, acquiring a great mesh pattern, and thanks to the large size of them can perform virtually any sculptural form.
Tusks of mammoths returned from the permafrost via hard work seekers. Their production is quite complex, as part of the ancient material lies in the swampy areas at the bottom of the river, in the tundra. Often tusks found on the banks of streams, lakes and ravines. To extract a single artifact earner is required from several hours to several days of continuous excavation. Before you pick up the found material, hunters tusks thrown into a hole dug silver jewelry or colored balls, as an offering to the local spirits.
Today, virtually all mining mammoth tusks in the vast Siberia is illegal, and about 90% of the received \”Treasures\” is ultimately in China, where the very revered ancient tradition of carving on ivory. The rapid growth of demand caused some concern among researchers, since it leads to the loss of valuable data about living on this land animals, tusks which contain information about the climate, feed and the environment. Perhaps in the permafrost of Siberia still locked millions, and even more mammoth tusks, but find them every year becomes more and more difficult.
