Somewhere beyond the sea
Somewhere waiting for me
My lover stands on golden sands
And watches the ships that go sailing
Somewhere beyond the sea
She's there watching for me
If I could fly like birds on high
Then straight to her arms I'd go sailing
It's far beyond a star
It's near beyond the moon
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet beyond the shore
We'll kiss just like before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailing
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon
And we'll meet, I know we'll meet beyond the shore
We'll meet just as before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
And neverβ¦

I've been playing this song, but wanted to improve on my arrangement. This is a very huge help! Thanks so much for posting this tutorial. Really appreciate it.
Incredible reharm!
Top notch Tony ! Should have 10 X more views …
Excellent,thank you for the upload.
Thanks, Tony!! I love this reharmonization of this arrangement of Yours for Beyond the Sea (La Mer).
I really like the way that You take the time to explain your chords, turn-arounds, progressions, roman numering, and everything!!
I say this because You make it "Click" as a Big "Eureka" moment of understanding.
And, coming from someone who is more "classically trained", these are really New sounds!!
So, it is an extremely Helpful & Important part for My Transition more & more into really "Good" jazz.
Thanks again for Your time, Tony!
Merci beaucoup! Great explanation.
From France, thank you for « La Mer ».
The best song of Charles Trenet for a jazz harmonisation is :
« Que reste -t-il de nos amours », a very beautiful french song, a good session for you and naturelly for us.
This is absolutely freaky. I was just preparing to watch the only "Beyond the Sea" tutorial I've found on YouTube and this much hipper video appears. Copied it to manuscript paper, and I'm ready to go to the keyboard. I'm a bit embarrassed that I didn't get a lot of this by ear. Thanks for this really helpful, straightforward presentation.
