Chordplay – The Chords of Triumph and information related to this topic.
Here’s the next Chordplay lesson with The Chords of Triumph.
I received a lot of requests to feature some Rik Emmett and figured focusing on his chords would be the best place to begin.
Rik’s a legendary guitarist who not only fronted Triumph through the 1970-1980s, he also wrote a series of articles for Guitar Player Magazine that are still highly recommended and suggested material for any guitarist to work through, not to mention an old Star Licks instructional video that is also highly recommended.
To locate a rock guitarist that’s also well-versed in jazz, classical, blues, slide, and a variety of other musical styles is rare, but with Rik you get all of those styles and ideas and so much more.

I love Rik Emmett! Definitely it's a Monster musician, awesome guitar player and Also wonderful singer! Triumph it's one of greatest Bands Ever! As Well.
Banger Films is putting out a Triumph Documentary soon. It's called Lay It On The Line, it was due out in 2020 but well….. They most recently did a ZZ TOP documentary. Rik Emmett and Gil Moore said they think it will be in US Theaters on it's debut, probably a one day thing, if lockdowns go away, then will probably be on Netflix in the US, or a similar platform, and I forgot the name but they said it's going to be on Canada's version of Netflix!
Your videos are always top shelf, David. This one in particular is a DeLorean for me. I've always been a huge Rik Emmett/Triumph fan. I bought Guitar Player for his articles, had the Star Licks on VHS. Also: props for the BBA poster! I've long felt their DNA was mingled with Stevie Wonder's in SRV's "Superstition".
Great channel..wow you just opened up a new door. Thank you for posting. Rik is top shelf all the way. Peace….
Rick Santers co- wrote that song Headed for knowhere. he is a better songwriter than guitarist then Steve one- trick- pony Morse. anyway, thanks for giving Rik his due, over-due props…just Know this is a Santers song.
Thanks for that and your playing is amazing!
Thank you. Rik was a beast, back in the day
