Getting Started with Mimic Creative Sampler in Reason+ and information related to this topic.
Mimic Creative Sampler is now available in Reason+. It will be part of the upcoming Reason 12 release, but Reason+ subscribers get early access. Wanna try it? Sign up for Reason+ here:
As the art of sampling has evolved over the years, from early attempts to capture real instruments to today’s unrecognizably twisted sonic textures and hooks, samplers have evolved right along with producers’ needs. Mimic is the latest sampler instrument to land in Reason and approaches sampling from that decidedly modern hyper-creative aesthetic.
Ryan gets you up and running with Mimic by showing you through its controls and hopefully helping to spark some new creative and fun ways you can bring samples into your music making.

Despite being a skeptic, I am impressed with this device. However, as someone who would normally be all over this, it needs some work. Key and tempo detection are must haves. I would suggest having a Hip-Hop producer (preferably someone good from the 90s who is still active [Pete Rock, DJ Premier, etc]) 5o put it to the test and add as they suggest. If I was starting, this would be cool, but I already have Serato Sample, and this, while cool, gives me no impetus to upgrade.
Currently CPU KILLER on Logging Beta but full of potential and very nice stretch algorithms!
Petition to release parsec for users for free and not pay for almost the same instrument twice!! Whos with me:)?
OMG, I think this could be the sampler of my dreams. I am really liking it. I use Bitwig as my main DAW so it looks like I might need to buy the Reason Rack Plugin if I want to have it. If I buy the Reason Rack Plugin, will mimic come inside of it already for full unadulterated use or do I have to buy mimic separately from the Reason Rack Plugin?
And I was thinking… a sampler which can slice a melodic sample, detect the pitch of each slice and then automatically map the zones with some crossfading. All the cool things that Reason can already do, then we get a step backwards with a pretty interface.
Can I get this with reason 11…..or is this only available on reason + subscription?
Does it tell you what key the sample is in like serato sample?
…no pitch detection and no BPM detection are rightly deal breakers for some people… like me… Also why is not also sold separately as an independent VST? I happily own R10 plus some extra like Algorythm, not interested on 11-12 features but I'd like to try this sampler…
I really do love Reason, but I think in modern world Reason is lost. Using vst is not comfortable, no folder tracks, worst track editor for audio files, etc. Primarily Reason was a big rack for devices – real device's projection. It was great and cool, it was like the real hardware devices. But now it's not the way for daw and Reason is trying to change something, but it's impossible, because the main concept is not "daw with tracks with devices", but "device rack with controlling midi tracks". There's no way to change, only reanalyze concept and change the way. I wish Reason Studios good luck, because there's great sound and good quality. But, guys, you have to think about main concept.
So is this only available with a Reason plus subscription? There's no way to just purchase it?
I’m trying to use the coupon 333 but is invalid. I’m trying to give reason+ a go. Iv been using reason since record 1.5 so will most likely just pay to update from 11 Suite to 12 but was keen to get the early release. Can anyone let me know why coupon 333 ain’t working for me?
Ryan! This is beautiful. Cant wait to dig in! My jaw dropped when you showed stretch in advanced mode, that is freakin sweet! Love the multi-slot stuff too. As always, your video is an inspiration!
Ryan got skills!!
Selecting F# as the root note would've fixed the issue too.
Love it
I feel like I'm back in the late 90s again! Samplers are so fun!
Cool… Yo Ryan, that last beat was 🔥 Bro 👊🏾
Nice! but I don't need this.
you guys suck i cant even by it unless i pay a subscription. way to take care of your long time supporters.
@Reason Studios I’m using the Reason Rack in Ableton. Why doesn’t the drum sequencer switch patterns with the bars selected? If I have a 4 bar loop the drum sequencer should go to pattern 4 not stay at one. We need that fix ASAP is it coming to Reason 12?
was interested, but i saw it is only available with subscription, then thanks not interested anymore!
Can't wait to try it out. I feel like this is gonna end up being a fav
Hmmm. Just tell me where midi pattern drag from the slicer is?
Looks like a MPC killer! Lol. No sir fellas. But dope
Got so many goosebumps when those hang drum chords came in under the vocal chops! Reason+ here I come.
Nice feature. Wish I could try it out. Can't log into reason to run it… "server problem". So much for the inexpensive "trial" of Reason+. Maybe next time don't oversell your capacity?
Still don't see anything to bring me back to Reason as a DAW but only as a Rack Plugin. If Reason Studios listened to users (and implemented them) a decade ago then Reason could have become to top dog. I've moved on to Studio One (so user-friendly) and am trying out Bitwig which seems incredible.
What an amazing video ! I love that new content and seems to be helping in stepping the beat producing game up a notch !!
I'll be able to test it out when the server is back on so i can log-in !! Haha !
Thanks for that very helpful video !
This video is good and I’m excited about Mimic. The thumbnail is maximum cringe and you should be ashamed….
Reason finally caught up to FL Stu’s sampling capability.
Reason needs to address in a post or newsletter ASAP about VST 3 implantation cause I'm about to jump ship after15 years of dedication. I'm sick of getting professional level plugins that are incompatible.
Wow …..Amazing demo… very Melodic and Inspiring Examples…. thanks 😊
wowwww mimic is the best sampleer in the industry
sold
Clever bastard. I should try this out in FL using DirectWave!
I’ve always loved samples this just creates more options. I wonder if I can make multi sample instruments in this like in kontakt
Yo, Ron Jeremy. When did you start making beats? Lol
It's a nice machine but still sounds like reason . Maybe they should have upped its audio engine instead of making hd graphics and gimmicks
Why not just show the machine instead of a kindergarten video on sampling . Reason keeps fucking up at every turn
Awesome song you did
Leave it to Ryan the Great to save the day with his brilliant instructional videos!
Can you purchase without subscribing to Reason+ ?
reason variphrase …
More gadgets, less talent. Oh God.
YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
👍🔥🤩👊🏻
People who never used Serato Sample, Ableton Simpler, or the sampler in Bitwig: Oh my god! This is life changing!!
