EDIT FROM 26 MAY 2010: 1,600 views! Thank you!

ROCK HISTORY MOMENT! Recorded in 1967 and released on 1968’s _The Immortal Otis Redding_, this soul hit was written by Redding with Al Bell (relation?) and Allen Jones. “Hard to Handle” epitomizes the classic hard soul sound infused with a rock sensibility, especially with “R-E-S-P-E-C-T” writer Steve Cropper spinning knobs on the original. The original “Hard to Handle” is the template for all other versions that followed, even the Black Crowes’.

The neighbor’s away today and I shall play!

  1. This is incredible! Thank you so much for the rock history lesson! I was just singing the Black Crowes' version as this was the one I heard when I was a teenager. Thanks for the chords as well. Although, I'm not nearly as talented as you, I might attempt to learn a simpler adaptation on my uke.
