This video lesson has been uploaded to algebra.com:
In this video lesson I explain an important property of chords. A chord is a line segment with both end points on a circle. It is a line from one point of the circle to another. Now the property: it is actually an important theorem. If two chords intersect inside of a circle, then they split each other into two parts each (two shorter line segments). The product of the lengths of the parts of the chords are equal. We use this to solve several problems. For more details see the video.

I always like to check out what the discarded answer from the quadratic equation is telling us. So if we take that value of x to be -12 (which you decided is the wrong answer)
Now looking at the two halves of the chord in question we have one half being equal to x. So that would be a length of -12. The other half is x+8 which would give us -4
Now if you start at the point of the intersection and consider that length of x, now make it 12 instead of 4 but in the opposite direction,
Likewise if you start at the intersection to draw the x+8 section, you need to draw that as 4 but in the opposite direction. So you'd still end up with the same diagram.
Excellent explanation of this complexly simple theorem, good sir! Thank you!!!

since my zoom won’t work, here i am watching this. thank you!
thanks, easy to learn from, not too long but also goes into enough detail.
U lost me at problem 2….how'd we het the two new 15's at either side?
can you contact me with help with math
It's too fast, it's confusing, I need to pause and play and pause continiously just to catch up to your methods not all people are fast learners.
why you are so fast?????
come on !!! im trying to understand. thank u
