  1. people say he's overrated….. then why is he the only reviewer to get a "final verdict" or the special longer videos. he is the greatest of the generation (all time to me)

  2. Hey man, I love your content!!! You remind me of Anthony Fantano a lot. Glad you enjoyed the album, DAMN. is getting too much hate. I personally enjoyed it more than To Pimp a Butterfly.

  3. Rating the songs without writing too much info:

    1. Blood – doesn't actually count as a song. Good intro though

    2. DNA – I like this song, although, I find it overrated

    3. Yah – don't have strong opinions about this song

    4. Element – didn't like it at first but I got into it the more I listened to it

    5. Feel – one of his best songs on the album

    6. Loyalty – I really don't like this song AT ALL

    7. Pride – good song

    8. Humble – don't care for this song that much but it's catchy

    9. Lust – pretty good song with good lyrics

    10. Love – this isn't hip hop in the slightest. It's straight pop music. Sounds like a Drake + Justin Bieber collab

    11. XXX – really like this song

    12. Fear – Love this song. One of the best lyrics in the whole album

    13. God – not a good song

    14. Duckworth – best song in the entire album and one of the absolute best songs of his career

Overall, I think this is his worst album, but I don't think it's a bad album. When I first heard this album, I hated it. I had to listen to it like 20 times to form a proper opinion

  4. You're tripping about yah. It's so spacious and moody how can you not be enchanted by it? I guess I just can't understand. "interviews wanna know my thoughts and opinions, fox news wanna use my name for percentage" The line about his niece and how his girl told him not to let the hoes get in his head, whereas his mama told him he's gonna work himself to death…those lines hit me personally. Man I love that shit. Good review though.

  5. Yo someone said that this album connects with TPAB, as in how he lost his spot in heaven by not helping the homeless man which was God in How Much A Dollar Cost, Then in BLOOD he tries and helps a blind lady which who might be satan and dies! Fam I'am going crazy lol

  6. I think its a real good record but real talk its his weakest album. And i wasnt the only one who thought of Ron Simmons when i saw the title of the album

  7. Ill give it a 8/10 its a great album. The lyrical content was good but it wasn't what i expected it just wasn't all that in my opinion it was disappointing. The worst song in my opinion is "Love". Best song is "DNA".

  8. I've listened to this album so many times and I honestly can't get into it. If I'm honest I don't understand why everyone raving about this album but with the mumble rappers I kinda get why everyone thirsty for Kendrick. It's for me his worst album saying that kendrick worst album is miles ahead of a lot rappers. Duckworth is my fav track! I think this is a middle of a road album he's gone more mainstream 7/10 not a classic

  9. The song 'YAH', along with the rest of the album is incredibly complex, and there are many nuances to everything he says. “I'm an Israelite, don't call me Black no mo.” ‘YAH’ is short for Yahweh, which the closet version to the Hebrew’s name for God. This is the second full track on his latest album which was released on April 13, 2017(which happened to be Good Friday). The tittle is in all caps and is fitting to the deep emotion that the song holds.
Using his singing voice, which is heard few and far between, the song has a unique sound from much of his music. I think it’s appropriate for the content of the track, which addresses his inner demons and stress coming from various external sources. Subtly using a different voice helps the audience see Kendrick in a different light.
The Initial tone seems like a regression from the fast-paced and highly rhythmic single “DNA.” The first verse is relatively short, only eight bars long, yet concisely touches on many subjects that will be album’s focus. The first verse seems to one of self-deprecation, which is a refreshing variation from the attitudes of hip-hop artists. It address the skepticism he has in the government, his upbringing in poverty, his struggle between finding spirituality and materialism, the toll his work ethic has taken on his mental health.
I believe the chorus is a clever metaphor for his awareness, regarding these issues. There seems to be subtle cry to God, asking for more understanding, concludes the first in a very poetic manner.
Kendrick’s response to the criticism of Fox News came with more unassuming nature than the way most rappers would. The mention of his niece humanizes him, and helps prove his point that the media misconstrues both his name message for money and television ratings. His comparison of blacks in America with the captivity of the Hebrews in Babylon is powerful and makes it clear that he’s been developing a crisis of faith since his last album by craftily referring back to it.

  10. Its weird. On my first listen I wasn't impressed and I was worried because I'm a big fan of Kendrick. But the more I listened the more it reeled me in. It's crazy how tracks like DNA, ELEMENT, XXX, and DUCKWORTH didn't hit me hard to begin when but gave me goosebumps further down the line. Especially DUCKWORTH, it took me like 3 listens before I noticed the twist at the end; which by the way I think surprised me more than the twist at the end of HOW MUCH A DOLLAR COST and even the Tupac interview.
