Listen:

West Coast rap vets M.E.D., Blu and Madlib come through with a collaborative album with mixing so questionable that I can barely tell what’s being said and who is saying it half the time.

  1. It’s funny because it’s common knowledge the Madlib records some of his beats in pretty unorthodox ways he made Madvillainy on an iPad and a sampler. Don’t see how fantano is missing this

  2. Honestly I personally really like this album, however, it has its flaws to be sure. Personally I mostly listen to the album for the instrumentals, which in my opinion are world class. I totally agree that the lyrics and vocal mixing presented here are often underwhelming and mediocre. That being said, I don’t think they completely break this album like you try to make it out to be. Some times I thought the vocal mixing was actually genius, like in “The Strip”. Yes the vocals seem washed out and difficult to understand, but to me it just works, it meshes well with the instrumentals here; granted this DEFINITELY can not be said for all of the tracks here. This album is at its best when the vocals are mixed in a creatively abstract way to mesh with the amazing beats produced by Madlib. In my opinion, you put too much weight on the the lyrics and vocal mixing of this album; an album, which in my opinion, isn’t trying to implement lyrics and vocal mixing in anywhere near a typical fashion. I think this album had more positives than negatives to it overall, I’m feeling a strong 6.

  3. I don't feel like this album was harder to understand than any other major release.

Plus I just love Madlib beats. Idk man I liked this one a lot

  4. Oh yeah, I see, the Fantano guy is like some kind of Madlib when it comes to the loops, when it comes to factors that hold back the quality of a record within itself.
He has so many valid points!
