In this tutorial, I explain the seven kinds of chords in music, specifically triads, which are chords with 3 notes. The chords in this video are major, minor, diminished, augmented, sus4, sus2, and open 5. I teach what they sound like and how to find and make them on the piano. Even though I use a piano for this tutorial, the chords are the same for whatever instrument you play. This is part 1 of a 3 part tutorial. Links below:

  1. Depois que encontrei vocรช, tudo estรก ficando mais fรกcil. Vocรช รฉ muito eficiente! Meus cumprimentos! (After I found you, everything is getting easier. You are very efficient! Congratulations!

  2. Hi! Love your videos and have been learning a lot from them, you deserve wayyy more subs! Is it possible that you'll do a tutorial on Grande valse brilliants in E-Flat Major by Frederick Chopin? That would be amazing! Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Just found your channel. I knew the fundamentals of the chords you discuss here. But as a guitar player first, until tonight I had not seen the big picture… just exactly how tightly all these chords types interlace, and how simple the concept is of going from Major to Sus, Major to Augmented, Major to Minor, Minor to Diminished. One more small light bulb turned on… only a million more to go. The piano does give you a visual reference not possible on guitar. Thanks!

  4. Great tutorial as always. On the screen, you placed the line for the root note at bottom. For example for the MAJOR chord: 2 whole steps (4 half steps) โ€” this line is at the bottom. But this line: 1 1/2 steps (3 half steps) is on top. Is there any reason for this arrangement? Because when I am reading, I get used to going from top to bottom. Thanks.

  5. Very informative, Marina. I learned something new today๐Ÿ‘. I look forward to parts 2 and 3 ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ
