  1. When I found this my right wrist hurt. Within minutes pain is gone. (The 4 and 5 fingers are abnormal on my right hand due to a teenage injury). This is very helpful but now I need to stabilize my keyboard stand!

  2. Hello, are you pressing down the keys with your fingers or are you using your wrists to come down and your fingers are just going automatically pressing the keys your fingers are over. I am trying to understand what it is that you are exactly doing because I want to be able to play chords and fast chords as well as arpegios really nicely and without tension which I have alot of. I am not your typical piano player, I learned on Organ and there was no weighted keys and with my semi weighted keyboard or even a piano my forearms start hurting instantly… I am into playing House Music and Trance Music…. I really don't understand anything about notes or music in general but still, I'm learning the piano and I'm currently almost done with Clair de Lune first movement, yet on the very final part, the arpeggio is impossible for me to do… my fingers just won't go there and I have quite big hands…My fingers are incredibly stiff with no elasticity what so ever so I'm forced to quit because of the pain… This happens to me on any piece I'm interested in learning… Any tips on how to gain more finger movement?

  6. This is great, but it doesn't work for songs that spam octave eighth sixteenth notes like there's no tomorrow, which there isn't for for my hands because there's no time to bounce and rest.

  7. We need more injury prevention technique videos like this. I just got my first piano injury after switching from unweighted to hammer action. Two weeks is all it took for me to get 3 stress injuries in my forearms and fingers. I always pushed the keys just like a computer keyboard and that doesn't fly well on weighted keys.

  10. This is serious. I actually hurt my thumb. When I was practicing I felt the tension but I ignore it and the next day I woke up with a terrible pain. I could not move it without pain for about a month.

  11. Thanks for this very helpful video! About the time I started to learn to play the piano I learned I have Kienbock's Disease in my right wrist. If you're not familiar with it, the Lunate, the bone that allows your wrist to pivot and rotate, starts to lose blood flow and begins to die. Loss of flexibility in the wrist is accompanied by pain; sometimes severe. As a result my right hand skills are way behind those of my left.

    Wearing a brace helps some but the pain is still a distraction to say the least. And with pain comes muscle tension so these exercises really help to remind me to relax!

  12. Could somebody explain, how should I need to split the muscular power between triceps and fingers during pressing the key? Should fingers be strong as a stick and triceps be relaxed or otherwise?

There is a lot of redundancy on many piano topics and even a few on posture and physical hand techniques but not so much on what you teach especially in today's episode. We see, and especially with classically trained pianists, these strange hand, wrist and arm movements but no one is explaining what is going on there. I think you did a stellar job in just a few minutes on what we're trying to achieve and how to practice it. Thanks again, great job.
