[sLUms]. | A Documentary and information related to this topic.
Editing this piece was a challenge because this was the first time I was working with multiple subjects in one film. However, through the process of trying to create a unified voice, it became clear to me that Slums doesn’t have a singular “story” behind it. Slums is a community of artists that came together because each one of them is trying to find their own way through life. Of course there is some overlap and bonds formed through relating to each others struggles, but in the end, each individual is trying to find a unique answer within themselves, while supporting the journey of those around them as well.
This intricate mixing of each individuals perspective on life is wound together in the music they make. Each voice is unique. Each sound is new. And the music continues to evolve, reflecting steady progress as they find their way through this world.
Slums is a community for those who are lost to simply be lost together – pulling each other out of the insanity of being lost alone.

This is the real culture of America, not the fake shit that gets fed to us on a daily basis. Like the beginnings of hip hop in NYC all over again, that same level of creativity.

What these guys push is everything the world needs to understand.. money, bad energy, clout all that shit mean nothing but so many of us are made to believe it and some even believe it without noticing.. take that all away and all we have is what we need an that’s each other… TRUTH IS ON ITS WAY✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
