Marty: Check it out.
Me: I'm checkin', I'm checkin'.
It is not an Am7 but an Asus4. And the G has a muted B.
Great song from a great Australian Band
Missing Australia atm.
Been stuck in Europe for 8 weeks.
Oh,great friend!
for the 'g' in the rhythm it is a 'd' shape on the 7th fret… you can hear the higher sound. The normal 'g' chord is used in the chorus.
May the schwartz be with you!
Thanks Marty. Good vid! It got me where I wanted to go. By ear I threw in one modification. Instead of playing the G in the beginning…I played a D chord on the 7th fret. This seemed to hit that high note. During the chorus I used the G chord. You vids always get me through the songs and speed things along. Thanks for the lesson. I'll be watching more.
It should be a 12 string like in the song.
Maybe it is just me, but when I listen to the song again, it doesn't sound like a normal open G chord. I can swear that I hear a high b when the guitarist is playing the first 2 or 3 repetitions. Can anyone else hear it?
How can you say this song is by Sia. All she did was a crap cover of a great song by the The Church . It should be played by 2 guitars simultaneously. One in the open position and one capoed at the 5 th fret.
3rd chord in the verse is an Em
Thanks Marty, I’m a newbie but with your tutorial now I can play this awesome song!
Could you prepare a tutorial to play acoustic version of See the Lights by Simple Minds?
Thank You!!
AdamPlex, I agree, as MWP gets a high pitch on the G chord which is missing from the tutorials I have seen for this song. Don't get me wrong, please they are great and I'd like to learn/play as the original. Problem I am having is the big jump from the chords in first position all the way to the 7th fret. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks Marty for uploading this.
PW580, I would also love a lesson on the song Reptile!
Love this song. The way you play it is easy to understand. it sounds a little like Chris Cornell's guitar playing. It would have been cool to hear him cover this song.
i feel the g chord position variation where you bar the 7th with index on little e, b, and g then you put middle finger on the 8th fret of the b string ring finder is on 9th fret of the d string and pinkie on 10th fret of the a string, sounds much better
Dude, the solo's not bagpipes, it's electric guitar withy effects, played with an ebow. Do you know what an ebow is?
You are a great guitar player… you are an even better teacher. 😉 I play pretty well myself and can pretty much keep up with you (have watched your live performance vid's), but just wanted to say that you have to go through a 1000 guitar players to find one who has the gift of teaching like you do. Obviously this was a super-easy song, but just saying.. have watched many of your vid's over the years, seems like every time I get interested in learning a song I'm either watching one of your vid's or one of those from some of the other good teachers out there. Anywhoo… just wanted to say your legacy will probably be your great teaching skills… not to denigrate your playing… but you have the patience and temperament to teach. It's a great gift!! Keep on doing what you're doing friend!!
PS: How do you handle the bagpipes in this song? LOL! 😉
"Under The Milky Way"
Sometimes when this place gets kind of empty
Sound of their breath fades with the light
I think about the loveless fascination
Under the Milky Way tonight
Lower the curtain down in Memphis
Lower the curtain down all right
I got no time for private consultation
Under the Milky Way tonight
Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find
And it's something quite peculiar
Something that's shimmering and white
It leads you here despite your destination
Under the Milky Way tonight
Under the Milky Way tonight
I play music by ear (music-ease is difficult to comprehend) and a close up of your finger placements would be awesome. I'll practice more, thanks
I really wish you would do Reptile by the church! I have the basics down, but would really like a visual walk through to play with
love your tutorials man. you're a very good teacher. thanks bro
I cant see shit!
wrong ! the second chord is Asus4 with Fdiesis bass!!!
great lesson, good teacher!
