  1. the anime sword wind romance was the first thing ive wathched. not knowing that it has demons was great. the introduction of zodd to the death of the hawks is just awesome.

  2. The way you talk about berserk it's the same way I talk about neon genesis evangelion. I also get weird looks when I say it's my comfort media. Hearing you talk about his death hit me hard. I was planning on read berserk but after this video I now have to read it . Thank you for making this video.

  3. 19:05 Eh.. that's not Animation, You're talking about Art Direction(sometimes called Visual Development, after the job title of the people responsible for it). Maybe I just misinterpreted what you're saying, but it just kinda irks me when people say "animation good/bad" when they're talking about a different element of the visuals.

  4. For a second there, I got so happy thinking there was 1 1/2 hour+ Berserk video made by a female fan. Then I heard one single millisecond of the voice and knew it was a man.

  5. A powerful video. There are so many things that I could say, and I guess that's why I find it hard to write down a comment about any single thing I felt during this video. You did a great job discussing the pros and cons of the adaptations of Berserk while keeping the tone fun and engaging. The transition to discussing the loss of Miura was natural and powerful. I watched the '97 anime a few years back, but I feel like I really ought to try reading through the manga a now.

  6. Discovered your chan tonight and holy moly this video is dope. Discovered Berserk through the first anime series as I'm not a manga reader in general I have to admit. But hey guess what's on the shells on my left alongside a bunch of European comics nowadays? I guess you know the answer.
As a fencer- yeah I know fencing is rubbish in Berserk but hey it's fantasy- and an antique swords collector, I'm glad I've never watch the 2016+ adaptations. Cling? Nooo
    Take care!

  7. i wanna start berserk but i don’t want to buy the books because holy shit that’s expensive. and also the website is kinda annoying to read on.

  8. Am i the only one who genuinely loved and still loves the black swordsman arc? Its one of my favorites to go back and read. Just surprises me how many people are put off by it and get stuck in “edge lord this and edge lord that” smh

  9. Each time you say "once again, a version of Berserk without an ending" I'm reminded that Berserk as a franchise is now without an ending, and we will forever be. (Probably)

  10. having only recently watched the 1997 series, it’s bewildering to think that people still make fun of the opening. without a hint of irony, it just rules. gotta be a holdover from the days of image macros relentlessly making fun of “engrish” or something.

  11. It took me watching lots of Berserk material to learn who Gokus voice actor is and remember his name for all eternity.

I'm not even into Dragonball…but now I will remember forever, one voice actor in it. Thanks internet.

  12. Brah, I just wanna see the end of Berserk where Guts finally defeats Griffith and saves the world just to get shanked by Theresia. A solid ending if ever there was one.

  13. Me finally catching up with all the Berserk content by watching 2016: Alright time to watch some children get slaughtered! I am hype!

Me after watching none of that happen: What the fuck, wheres my slaughtered children!? I sat through shitty CG for nothing!

  14. 34:26 When it comes to the trilogy, I will say I love it more for its animation, character design, emotional execution of said characters, camers work, music, and tho they cut out alot…I was squealing with delight when Guts and Casca finally danced badly at that ball celebration. I was yelling at both the manga and the '97 series for them to dance and of course, they never did. Thank you 2012 trilogy for making my own dreams come true because I was worried I'd have to write a fanfiction.

Did I mention they did a great job at portraying emotions? Cuz, my lord, that rageful guttural, chaotic scream of Guts during the big ahem scene near the end, and they way they animated his frantic movements…I'm a sucker for good animation okay.

  15. You may never read this comment but i want to tell you thanks,
Thanks for giving me the motivation to carry on, and to also go for the manga
The second i finished berserk the firs anime I knew i watched the greatest anime i have watched, but i didn't know the manga existed and i didn't realize that Berserk have soooooo much more to offer
I will be sure to read the manga in memory of the creator and in a step to help heal my depression.
Again thanks a lot for introducing me to the real Berserk
Btw this is the first time i watch a YouTube video that is longer than 30 minutes and stay hyped on every minute.

  16. Berserk is the reason why you read the Manga version.

Don't just rely on the Anime adaptation because the Anime only focuses on what can be animated based on the budget and animation studio priorities.

If you want to enjoy the original work of any Anime, focus on reading the Manga or even the Light Novel adaptation.

  17. When it comes to Berserk, I feel like it would have been better for the Anime of Berserk to have been made later like in 2005.

So therefore you would have at least a few seasons to make up for the Lost Children arc.

Having Berserk in 1997 was a little bit like loads to work with in Golden Age arc, but nothing much after that to build up to.

When you have the Falcon and the Millennium Empire arc, it would have been 2010 and you have a smooth progression between the animation and the arcs.

I think while Berserk taking such a long time in Manga to tell the story, would have been better for the 1997 anime to wait until more of the Manga was finished so they could have a story to build towards.

Great story with the 97 Anime being iconic, but the lack of the manga to adapt after the Golden Age at the time left the storyline little to do anything and unable for the animation studio to do anything more than they did.

  18. My god the amount of time this must have taken. I love Berserk and I’ve seen a ton of creators make videos about it but this is by far the most lovingly well put together video I’ve seen that perfectly encapsulates this series. Take a breather after this one struggler you’ve earned it
