  1. Whenever I have quit a job, it's because my mental, and sometimes even physical health was suffering due to stress. You only get so much health, so if it's that situation I would just leave w/o consideration of vesting schedules.

  2. Question for anyone that may know: My employer put some money into my 457 years ago as an annuity and we recently changed who we we use going from AIG/Valic to Empower. All of my money transferred over except the Annuity money. I called them and got the papers filled out to get it all transferred and I was notified that they couldn’t process the rollover. I called and they told me that an annuity can’t be transferred until I retire or leave my employer. It just seems like they are holding my money hostage.

  3. Always use upcoming incentives (401k vesting, RSU/ISO/NQO vesting, bonuses) as leverage in negotiating salary and signing bonuses or your new job.

  4. Guess I've been lucky when it comes to 401k – never worked for a company that withheld the match on a vesting schedule. That seems really cheap to me. That said I've walked away from unvested RSUs and it was painful seeing them get cancelled.

  5. This whole vested 401K is a big reason why I didn't take a different job, I would not be fully vested for 5 years. I am better off staying where I am at and get those benefits over the next 5 years at my current company instead

  6. Left my last job 6 weeks before my biggest bonus ever was going to be paid out. The new company wanted me urgently so I used that as leverage to not only get them to comp my bonus on signing, but also increase my base salary. What really clenched the deal was me turning down their first offer, which while extremely generous, would have only gotten me to breakeven 1 year out because of the lost bonus. I had to show them I wasn't kidding around when I told them what I was walking away from.

  7. Brian and Bo are the investing kings! I am inspired by their channel. Brian and Bo inspire me to continue my own YouTube channel on Finance and Investing.
